Chronology of Right-Wing Violence in Brandenburg
Since 2000 Opferperspektive has documented over 1,000 acts of right-wing violence.
Chronology According to Year, Municipality, County
Registered acts of violence dating back to 2000 or specific years between 2000-2007 can be listed for each municipality (»Kommune«) and county (»Landeskreis«) in Brandenburg. The order is based on the administrative structure following the Local Redistricting Reform (»Gemeindegebietsreform«) as of 1 January, 1st 2006 (Source: service.brandenburg.de
)
Sources
The chronology and statistics are based on Opferperspektive’s own research, communications with cooperation partners, daily analysis of newspapers, police reports, and internet sources. The chronology is incomplete. It only contains acts of violence that were disclosed to Opferperspektive.
Assessment Criteria
The following data have been compiled:
- Crimes in which bodily harm to individuals was inflicted or intended,
- Property damage or arson, when it is indirectly aimed at harming a specific group of people,
- Coercion and threats with serious consequences for the victim,
when those injured, witnesses, or police attribute a right-wing motivation to the incident, and when there is evidence that enemy archetypes against social groups play a specific or escalating role in the incident, especially in cases of
- Racism and antisemitism,
- Hatred towards leftists and democrats,
- Contempt towards punks and other youth cultures,
- Social-Darwinism with regard to the homeless or handicapped,
- Hatred towards gays and lesbians.
Opferperspektive’s assessment criteria are comparable to the police’s definition of politically-motivated right-wing crime (»PMK-rechts«). The most important difference taken into account in Opferperspektive’s definition is the inclusion of threats, coercion, and property damage.
